Announcement of the Editorial Board about the removal of the article “Other positron emission tomography/computed tomography tracers in differential thyroid carcinoma beyond the use of 2-[18F] FDG”

from the journal "Problems of Endocrine Pathology", Volume 79, No. 3 (2022)

On September 15, 2022, the editor-in-chief of the journal received a notification from the department of scientific information and patent-licensing work of the SI “V. Danilevsky Institute for Endocrine Pathology Problems of the NAMS of Ukraine” regarding possible violations by the authors of the article “Other positron emission tomography/computed tomography tracers in differential thyroid carcinoma beyond the use of 2-[18F] FDG” of the journal "Problems of Endocrine Pathology" editorial requirements.

The editor-in-chief initiated an investigation and a meeting of the Academic Integrity Promotion Group of the SI “V. Danilevsky Institute for Endocrine Pathology Problems of the NAMS of Ukraine” was held on October 4, 2022 (protocol). The editor-in-chief's appeal regarding the publication of the authors M. Acuña Hernandez, P. Vallejo Armenta, U. Cancino Ramos, L. Sanchez Orduz, P. Casanova Triviño, L. Cadavid Blanco “Other positron emission tomography/computed tomography tracers in differential thyroid carcinoma beyond the use of 2-[18F] FDG”, Problems of Endocrine Pathology 2022;79(3): 81-89 was considered. The fact that the authors of the article violated academic integrity and the editorial requirements of the journal "Problems of Endocrine Pathology" regarding the submission of the manuscript was revealed. The simultaneous submission of the article to several different journals was detected, namely, the article was submitted to the editorial board of the journal “Problems of Endocrine Pathology” (01/19/2022) after it had been submitted to another scientific journal (01/01/2022), where it was considered and accepted for publication (03/04/2022) and subsequently published (Revista Argentina de Endocrinologia y Metabolismo; ISSN 0326-4610; v. 59(2); p. 6-12; https://raem.org.ar/articulos_raem/trazadores-pet-ct-en-carcinoma-diferenciado-de-tiroides-mas-alla-del-uso-del-2-18ffdg-pet-ct/).

Based on the fact of violation, on November 8, 2022, it was decided to establish the Commission on Publishing Ethics to consider this violation (order).

On November 9, 2022, a meeting of the Commission on Publishing Ethics was held regarding consideration of the violation and requirements for submitting a manuscript to the journal "Problems of Endocrine Pathology".

It was decided to recommend removing the article M. Acuña Hernandez, P. Vallejo Armenta, U. Cancino Ramos, L. Sanchez Orduz, P. Casanova Triviño, L. Cadavid Blanco “Other positron emission tomography/computed tomography tracers in differential thyroid carcinoma beyond the use of 2-[18F] FDG”, Problems of Endocrine Pathology 2022;79(3): 81-89 from the journal (protocol).

On November 10, 2022, a meeting of the editorial board of the journal "Problems of Endocrine Pathology" was held, at which a unanimous decision was made to support the Commission on Publishing Ethics regarding the removal of the article (protocol).

November 11, 2022, at meeting No. 4 of the Academic Council of the SI “V. Danilevsky Institute for Endocrine Pathology Problems of the NAMS of Ukraine” the final decision on retraction of the article “Other positron emission tomography/computed tomography tracers in differential thyroid carcinoma beyond the use of 2-[18F] FDG” from the journal Problems of Endocrine Pathology 2022;79(3): 81-89, was unanimously adopted (extract from the protocol).
