THE CHARACTER OF LEPTIN PRODUCTION IN CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS WITH TYPE 1 DIABETES MELLITUS

Determination of leptinemia in 106 children and adolescents with type 1 diabetes mellitus at the age of 6 to 18 demonstrated an increased leptin level durimg puberty (0,7 to 20,4 ng/ml) which corresponds to its physiological dynamics. The level of leptinemia in girls was on the whole higher and increased significantly at excessive body weight as opposed to boys. In the boys there was registered a prinsipal correlation of hyperleptinemia with atherogenic type of changes in the blood lipide spectrum, as well as a tendency to hypoleptinemia together with deterioration of carbohydrate metabolism compensation.
