Diagnosis and course of osteoporosis in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (literature review and own data)

In the presented review, the relevance of studying the course and development of osteoporosis in patients with type 2 diabetes combined with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease is substantiated. It is shown that there is a clear relationship between the level of glucose, bone metabolism and the functional state of the liver. A number of the presented studies testify to the important role of vitamin D in the development of osteoporotic changes in patients with type 2 diabetes and dictates the need for its determination in the above-mentioned contingent of patients. The results of the authors’ own studies demonstrated a clinically significant association of hepatic transaminases with the parameters of phosphorus-calcium metabolism in women with type 2 diabetes mellitus in combination with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. The results obtained require further detailed study.
